Great Falls natives graduate from Youth Challenge Academy

The Montana Youth Challenge Academy based in Dillon held their 37th Commencement Ceremony on Dec. 16, 2017, on the campus of University of Montana-Western.

Seventy-four cadets graduated during the formal ceremony, 10 of which came from Great Falls. Speakers at the ceremony included Lieutenant Governor Mike Cooney and UM President Dr. Sheila Stearns. Other guests included State Senator Jeff Welborn, SD 36; Major General Matthew Quinn, Adjutant General of Montana National Guard; Dr. Beth Weatherby, chancellor of UM-Western; Brigadier General (Ret) Hal Stearns of Montana Army National Guard; Brigadier General Bryan Fox, commander of Montana Air National Guard; and several others. 

The 10 graduates from Great Falls are: MacKenzie Hall, Dillon DeJean, Hunter Toupin, Howard Powell, Michael Fife, Michael Lamb, Christian Yandell, Chas Matye, Andrew Cochran, and Ryan Bray.

The Montana Youth Challenge Academy is a two-phase, academic-based program in Dillon on UM-Western's campus. The academy's focus is to assist youth ages 16-18 by helping them develop academic and life skills necessary to be successful.
